The first new anime in the Sailor Moon series in 17 years, Sailor Moon Crystal, will begin this year. Because of its global popularity, this is a long-awaited work by fans not just in Japan, but worldwide. A video of this new anime has finally been released. The trailer was released on June 6. It’s a must-see video for fans that shows Sailor Moon and the rest from long ago as well as their new versions. Continuing from the previous series, Kotono Mitsuishi will once again be the voice of Sailor Moon, and her voice, along with a portion of the opening theme “Moon Pride” by Momoiro Clover Z, can be heard in the trailer.
The opening theme “Moon Pride” was created by Revo (Linked Horizon / Sound Horizon). Revo was just in charge of the opening theme “ Crimson Bow and Arrow” for the 2013 TV anime Attack on Titan which was a huge hit. Being a popular singer who has successfully performed on Kouhaku Uta Gassen and who had his major debut 10 years ago, this collaboration will likely make big headlines.
On the other hand, composer Akiko Kosaka is in charge of the ending theme, “Moon Rainbow.” Kosaka has created several popular Sailor Moon songs to date including “Diamond Mirage” and “Moon Revenge.” Because of that, this song is a must-hear.
The single for the theme songs will release on July 30 in two varieties: A Sailor Moon disc and a Momoiro Clover Z disc. The Sailor Moon disc will include a Blu-ray of the music video for “Moon Pride,” and the Momoiro Clover Z disc will include a cover of “Moon Revenge” to enjoy.
In sync with this, information has been announced about the additional cast. The black cat Luna who guides main character Usagi Tsukino will be voiced by Ryo Hirohashi who also played the main character in the Kaleido Star series. Playing Sailor Moon’s fated lover Tuxedo Mask aka Mamoru Chiba is Kenji Nojima who has played a role in many popular works including Psycho-Pass and Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne.
