Serialization of Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga Hunter x Hunter resumed in Issue 27 of Weekly Shonen Jump on sale June 2. This is a long-awaited continuation of the hit series, which has over 64 million copies of its 32 volumes released to date in print. Along with this announcement, it was revealed that there will also be new developments in the TV anime based on the original manga. The anime is currently airing on Nippon TV late night on Tuesdays and the new series will begin broadcasting on July 8.
Starting in July is the new chapter “Election.” Continuing from “Chimera Ant,” this is the first time this story arc will be adapted into anime. This is surely making the wait difficult for fans. The new arc will begin from Episode 137. According to the will left by Netero, former chairman of the Hunter Association, the Zodiacs, the high council of the Hunter Association, gather to debate on the election of the next chairman. Among them is Ging, Gon’s father. However, Vice Chairman Pariston, who is aiming to become the next chairman, sends the committee into chaos. The curtain rises on a roller coaster ride of whether or not the committee will come to a decision.
Along with the start of a new story arc, drawings of new characters have also been released. Each one looks unique in appearance. The voice cast for each of these characters has been announced as well. Of the members of the Zodiacs, Hiroki Takahashi is playing Pariston, Akio Otsuka is playing Mizaistom, Tomoka Kiriyama is playing Piyon, Ryota Ohsaka is playing Kanzai, and Ikue Ohtani is playing Cheadle. Other popular and talented voice actors include Maaya Uchida as Alluka Zoldyck––a member of the Zoldyck family which holds another key to the story––Ikuko Tani as Tsubone, Maria Inoue as Amane, and Uki Satake as Kite.
Madhouse is once again in charge of producing the anime, Hiroshi Koujina is directing, Tsutomu Kamishiro is the series composer, and Takahiro Yoshimatsu is the character designer. This as well is a perfect grouping. It seems unmissable developments in the original manga and anime for Hunter x Hunter will continue from here on.
