On May 29, Mercedes-Benz announced a collaboration between its compact SUV “New GLA Class” and Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros.
The first part of the collaboration was a TV commercial titled “Go! GLA Edition” that began airing countrywide in Japan on May 30. The commercial features a comical story to enjoy that expresses the nimbleness and speed of the GLA as well as the friendly and casual world of Super Mario Bros.
Another part of the collaboration announced by Nintendo is a GLA kart that will appear in the Wii U game Mario Kart 8.
This GLA kart will be distributed for free from Nintendo throughout Japan this summer and a Mario Kart tournament using the GLA kart will be held this autumn. This is the first time an actual car has become a kart in the Mario Kart series. Also, coming before the game tournament, a demo of Mario Kart 8 is being held now until June 8 in the second floor lounge of Mercedes Me, Mercedes-Benz’s launchpad for new brand information. More information on the tournament will be will be released on the Mercedes-Benz Connection site, so we’ll keep you posted.
