I’m Kyoka-chan, a Japanese talent who recently visited Kotobukiya Akihabara, a shop for otaku. This time, I’ll be taking a look at the upper floors that stock an array of core content!
Continuing on from Floor 2, where I left off last time, Floor 3 offers a different vibe and is a floor intended for males. The stand-out products on this floor are from Idolmaster and Love Live! with a focus on Kantai Collection. The bishoujo figures are also not to be missed!
Floors 1-3 focus on a wide array of different products for casual fans, but Floor 4 focuses on American comics including Star Wars, Kotobukiya original plastic models, and kits. There is also a spacious exhibit space and an “enchanting sales floor” that will tickle otaku hearts.
Floor 5 is event space. Events are free to attend and you can come and go as you please. Events with guest stars (usually voice actors) are also held here. Meet and greet events with anime voice actors are held two to three times per month. To attend one of these meet and greets, you must make a purchase and be chosen by lottery.

After browsing all the floors, you are likely to find yourself wanting to buy this and that. But isn’t stuffing such purchases into your luggage for the flight back to your home country a hassle? There are likely people who think “There are things I want to buy, but I’m afraid they will break on the trip back.” Well, if this is you, there is good news! Kotobukiya Akihabara offers an international shipping service for a fee. Even if you buy something bulky, you can return home without having to lug it along. Isn’t this great?

Akihabara, the otaku paradise. If you’re coming to Japan, but can’t decide where to go, make sure to make Kotobukiya Akihabara your first stop!
