New Visual of Kotetsu and Barnaby for Tiger & Bunny: The Rising Releases

Superheroes with special abilities called “Next” who protect the peace while dressed in outfits adorned with sponsor logos––these are the kind of unusual heroes depicted in the anime Tiger & Bunny. The anime became a big hit in 2011, and the first movie, Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning, was released in 2012. Along with the anime, this too became a huge hit. Now, the second movie, Tiger & Bunny: The Rising, will finally be released in Japan on Feb. 8.

With less than a month to go until the release, there has been an increase in projects and campaigns related to the movie. For starters, a new visual showing the two main characters Kotetsu and Barnaby was released on Jan. 6. The illustration was drawn by character planner and hero designer Masakazu Katsura, who added just a touch of an adult air to the design.

It has also been announced that the third round of advance ticket sales (one pair costs ¥2,800 including tax) will begin on Jan. 18. The advance tickets will also make use of the new visual. Furthermore, bonus presents to be given to those who see the movie have been revealed. Similar to the popular Hero Cards given out during the release of the first movie, these new presents, titled “Limited Quantity! Heroes Column Cards Drawn By Masafumi Nishida (Tentative Name),” will change each week.

Tiger & Bunny: The Rising is being highly anticipated by fans due to it telling an entirely new story that takes place after the events of the anime. The story follows Kotetsu and Barnaby, who have been transferred to the Second League. Being an entirely new work, there is also a new hero: Golden Ryan. The citizens are gearing up for the Justice Day festival which celebrates the legendary goddess. Amid all the liveliness, a mysterious case unfolds that shakes all of Sternbild.

Continuing his work on the series as the writer of The Rising is Masafumi Nishida who has worked on many popular shows including live-action dramas. Directing the movie is Yoshitomo Yonetani who also directed The Beginning.

On the day of the movie’s release, a stage greeting with the cast and staff called “Greeting of Heroes” will take place at Shinjuku Wald 9. This event will also be simulcast in theaters around the country. Other stage greetings will also occur on the same day at Shinjuku Piccadilly, Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro, T-Joy Oizumi, and Movix Saitama. Details on those attending and ticket sales will be released soon.
