A new development in the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh!, which started in 2000, is underway. It has been announced that a new anime in the series called Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V will begin broadcasting in spring 2014. In the past 14 years, this series created by Kazuki Takahashi has seen four anime adaptations: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, and *Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V will be the fifth anime for this series that is loved throughout the world.
The theme to Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V is “Have courage and take a step forward!!” The main character is a young boy named Yūya Sakaki who escapes harsh reality by smiling. Stemming from a duel, Yūya gains a hidden power of limitless possibilities by having the determination to face his troubles head on. So begins a roller coaster ride of a story. Yūya is a character that children will likely be sympathetic toward. Through Yūya’s brave spirit of continually challenging strong enemies head on, the staff want to convey to children the importance of having the courage to take a step forward. This new Yu-Gi-Oh! is worth paying attention to.

Manga for the spin-off stories Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal are currently serialized in Monthly V Jump. Also, Yu-Gi-Oh! D Team Zexal is serialized in Saikyo Jump. Including the anime, manga, and the well-known card game, it seems Yu-Gi-Oh! is developing on all fronts.
