
The broadcast period for the newest work in the hit anime series Saki has been announced. Saki: Zenkoku-hen will begin broadcasting in January 2014. Once again, fans will be able to enjoy mahjong battles between bewitching, beautiful girls.
The original work to Saki is a manga of the same name by Ritsu Kobayashi. It began serialization in 2006 in Young Gangan and currently spans 11 individual volumes. The story, which involves female high school students fostering friendship during mahjong showdowns, has become talked about, and the series has gained popularity not just from fans of mahjong, but from an extensive range of people. Many people may have started to play mahjong to due the work’s influence. The series has also developed into several spin-off works , and from 2011 to 2013 Saki: Achiga-hen Episode of Side-A was serialized in Shonen Gangan.
The TV anime began in 2009, and this too became a huge hit. As if being the show’s special move, the scenes of mahjong battles unfolding also picked up attention. In 2012, Saki: Achiga-hen was adapted into an anime. Saki: Zenkoku-hen is the third anime in the series. We wonder how the story will develop in order to excite viewers.
Even though information on the cast and staff is still unknown, it is planned to be announced very soon on the anime’s official site and Twitter. Since the series includes popular seiyū such as Kana Ueda as Saki Miyanaga and Rie Kugimiya as Ami Koshimizu, there are great expectation for the cast. Also, collaborations have begun with several companies and media, including the arcade game Sega Network Taisen Mahjong MJ5 and the karaoke club Pasela. It seems that with the start of this third season, the anime will be able to be fully enjoyed through various media.
