The broadcast start date of the anime adaptation of Nobunagun, which is currently serialized in Monthly Comic Earth Star, has been announced. The anime will first broadcast on Jan. 5, 2014 at 10:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX. Nobunagun will be one of the anime to decorate the new year. The production staff, who are going at this full force from all sides, have also been announced. Because of the appealing battle action in the original manga, there is no doubt that fan’s have high anticipation for the anime.
Directing Nobunagun is Nobuhiro Kondo of Sgt. Frog and SD Gundam Force fame, and acting as assistant director is Joji Furuta who has worked on Love Live! and Devil Survivor 2 the Animation. The series composer is Hiroshi Yamaguchi, writer of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Kazz T. of Sailor Moon and Hiromi Matsushita who worked as the animation director on Sgt. Frog are in charge of the character designs. The mechanical designs, which are an integral aspect of the action scenes, are being handled by Kenichi Takase, mecha animation director on Mobile Suit Gundam UC and Star Driver, and Hirofumi Nakata, character designer on First Squad. The anime is being produced by Bridge, the same studio that produced Devil Survivor 2 the Animation and Mitsudomoe. It seems the anime is being undertaken by a flawless team.
The original manga for Nobunagun was written by Masato Hisa. The story follows a high school boy named Shio Ogura who has inherited Nobunaga Oda’s “E-Genes” and uses Nobunaga’s soul to manifest a huge gun that he uses to fight against monsters. The work picked up popularity for its battle action. The 10:00 p.m. Sunday night timeslot that Nobunagun will take over is currently the broadcast time for Wanna be the Strongest in the World, another work adapted from a manga serialized in Monthly Comic Earth Star.
