JohnHathway(JH Science), a Tokyo Otaku Mode Special Creator, has started a project on Kickstarter. The aim of the project is to launch a magazine called Akiba Anime Art Magazine Vol. 00.
The magazine will feature information from Akihabara on anime, doujinshi, figures, and charaben, as well as high-quality illustrations and cosplay by “Akiba artists,” mainly JohnHathway. It will also be edited in Akihabara, making it a 100% Akihabara brand pop culture magazine. It is planned to have 60-70 pages, all in full color, but depending on the pledges, the number of pages might increase. The more the pledges, the more the quality of the magazine will go up, such as making it bigger or using better quality ink for printing.
The participating Akihabara artists––Rco Wada, Chiyoko Fuji, Matayoshi, Yuko Tsukishima, Shin Hashimoto, Hime+You, and Kei––are all popular illustrators from various circles such as games and manga. Julie Watai, who reached the top of the Amazon chart with her photo collection, will also participate with “kawaii!” fashion photos.
At present, the stretch goal of the project is more than $30,000. This project is also subject to Kickstarter’s unique system in which the presents that pledgers receive grow with the reach of each goal. Currently, the items allocated as presents for those who purchase the magazine are limited edition stickers and trading cards.
