A trailer for Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion, which will open in theaters countrywide in Japan on Oct. 26, has finally been released. A portion of the veil enshrouding this movie up until now has been revealed with this new trailer. Even though the trailer isn’t even 30 seconds long, impactful scenes are shown back to back. Furthermore, the trailer brings with it plenty of heightened anticipation for the movie’s original story.
The first point we are curious about is the magical girls seemingly battling each other. One scene depicts a battle unfolding between Homura and Mami. Just what is the meaning of this? Also, while the movie is a sequel to the previous two, the trailer shows Sayaka Miki, Kyōko Sakura, and Mami Tomoe, who died nobly in a previous film. Straying from the story of the previous films, Madoka, whose existence from the world had been erased, also makes an appearance. We are curious about the connection the world of Rebellion has with that of the previous films. The previously announced new magical girl, Nagisa Momoe, may hold the key to this.
Furthermore, the trailer also depicts a new enemy that blocks the magical girls’ paths: Nightmare. Fans can expect new battles to unfold, or in other words, the true climax to Madoka Magica. The theme song is once again being sung by ClariS. The song, “Colorful,” is tied to the scenes of the movie. Hear the song and watch scenes from the movie together in the trailer.
