On July 28, MF Bunko J, a Media Factory light novel label, held the event Summer School Festival 2013 at UDX in Akihabara, Tokyo.
Among the number of events held, the ones that fans couldn’t get enough of to say the least were the stage events that were held from morning to night. The audiences of these special performances by voice stars of anime adaptations of MF Bunko J’s original light novels, including Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat, and The Severing Crime Edge, were overflowing with fans. Also, as part of the performance for the planned anime adaptation for Unbreakable Machine-Doll, news of the latest screen events, information on an advance screening of the anime was announced. At a live recording of the currently broadcasting online radio show “MF Bunko J Radio Alive!!,” five light novels becoming anime were announced. and five title to become adapted into anime were announced. It can be said that fans of MF Bunko J light novels have much further development to look forward to.
The event also included a variety of other activities. Many original goods were being sold in the goods area and the line for fans hoping to purchase an item seemed to never end. Fans who collected all the stamps from the various shops of Akihabara participating in the stamp rally received a light novel signed by the original author as a prize, and many people participated right from the start. Fans’ passion could be seen as heated battles ensued at the area where they could experience the Ange Vierge card game that will release on Oct. 4.
While reporting, the overflowing hopes of light novel fans and abundance of MF Bunko J works for the future were clearly felt. It was truly an event “hot” enough for summer.
