On July 25, collaborative trains called Kyōmafugō on the Kyoto Shiei Subway Tōzai Line began service. They will be in operation for two months. The goal for the project is to promote the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2013 (Kyo-mafu 2013) that will be held on Sept. 7 and 8, as well promote the appeal of using the subway.
The inside of the trains are decorated with characters from Space Brothers, A Certain Scientific Railgun S, Hakuōki the Movie, and Unbreakable Machine-Doll. All are works that will be exhibited at Kyo-mafu 2013. The characters from each work are printed on the inside of the trains as well as on the outside in life-size scale.
The decorations have been implemented on the first and second cars of the Uzumasa Tenjingawa-bound train on the Tōzai Line and on the fifth and sixth trains of the Rokujizō-bound train. Therefore, if fans would like to check them out without any trouble, they should be careful about each train’s location and check the service schedule via the link below.
Kyo-mafu 2013 will be held at Kyoto Knagyōkan, the same venue as last year. It is the largest scale anime and manga event in Western Japan. Referred to as an anime and manga carnival out of Kyoto, it has gathered attention from fans of Japan’s anime and manga as well as from companies.
