I’d like to announce that pre-orders have begun for goods based on the character Danbo from the manga Yotsuba&! on the Tokyo Otaku Mode Premium Shop! With these items from You’re Such a Nerd – an original brand of Animation Addict Store, which continues to create unique products and collaborations with works such as Evangelion and Transformers – you can take Danbo with you wherever you go!
For those who don’t know Yotsuba&!, let me explain what Danbo is! Danbo is a cardboard robot built by Hayasaka Miura, friend of elementary school student Ayase Ena who lives next to the main character, Koiwai Yotsuba! In reality Danbo is just Miura dressed in costume, but Yotsuba thinks it is a real robot. She is a bit naive... By the way, Danbo has appeared in many commercials for movie Blu-rays, such as for director Steven Spielberg’s Jaws!
Well then, let’s take a closer look at the three products now available for pre-order.
Danbo Coin Pouch
Is that...Danbo’s head? Don’t worry, it’s only a coin case made in the image of Danbo’s head. This product is made of recycled leather scraps that have been reprocessed into this eco-friendly item. Also, this product was assembled from one sheet of recycled leather. Because of its material, it looks just like cardboard. This item is convenient not just for coins but also other small items like stamps and memory cards!
Danbo Card Case
Similarly to the “Danbo Coin Pouch,” this is a slim and simple card case made with recycled leather. With the front of the case being a cutout of Danbo’s face, its expression can change and its eyes shine depending on what you put inside. How you enjoy this case is entirely up to you! There is also a logo on the back!
The cardboard logo and barcode aren’t printed the same as on real cardboard, they are branded on. This logo is on all three of the Danbo products. Due to these products being made from real leather, the texture of the leather will change with continued use. These Danbo are cool and continue to always change!
Danbo Wallet
Whoa! Is that Noguchi Hideyo printed on a Japanese bill peeking out from inside Danbo?! With this wallet, a portion of the bills or whatever you put inside will be viewable from the outside. Positioned the right way, those printed on bills can be seen peeking out from inside the wallet. This is great fun, so make sure to try it out! Just like the other two products, this one is also made from recycled leather, so its simple texture looks just like Danbo.
