A special release of the immensely popular manga series Broken Blade went on sale July 12.
Broken Blade is a highly acclaimed robot manga written by Yunosuke Yoshinaga and published on the web comic site, Comic Meteor. Known for its spectacular drama, the series is currently being adapted into an animated film, a drama CD, and other types of mediums. To date, over 1.8 million copies of the manga have been sold, with no signs of slowing down. Now, the long-awaited special edition of Broken Blade has finally arrived.
Ten special edition volumes will be published in total, with two releasing every month. Each cover will feature new, specially drawn illustrations. The front of volume 2, for example, is a must-see for fans, as it features the members of Valkyrie Squadron gathered together. The back is a scene depicting the main character, Rygart, and his comrades as students. It's a charming illustration.
The special edition publications will also include the official guide book that was previously only sold with volumes 10 and 11. This is great news for new fans of the series or those who were not able to get their hands on the materials when they were first released.
Some of the most remarkable changes in these special editions are the artistic revisions. Every volume has been improved with more beautiful and meticulously detailed images that are truly a sight to behold. In addition to these revisions, another characteristic is that the story as a whole has been edited, with certain scenes altered or cut out completely.
Story
A fight against fate unfolds on the continent of Cruzon, a place in which all people are born with magical abilities. Devoid of any special powers, in this world, Rygart is the rare exception. He is called upon by his old friend, the King of Krisna, and becomes dragged into a chaos of conflict and war. What will be the cruel fate that awaits these four – Rygart, Hodr, Sigyn and Zess – bound together by an undying friendship?
