Today, I will be discussing the opening theme for The Idolm@ster, the tremendously popular game turned anime series. The first time I heard this song, I was overwhelmed and thought that this is definitely going to be popular! Sure enough, the series saw enormous sales. I have all of the CDs for the songs that I compile on my mix CDs, so of course I had to buy this song as well! There have been many releases of songs used in The Idolm@ster, but this one is unique, as it begins suddenly with the hook, "I'm Ready!" It breaks all the rules! It's important that anime songs be exciting, but this one just has so much energy to it. In terms of structure, the song is pretty straightforward, simple, and feels like an idol song. It also has many call and response parts for live performances which can be easily remembered even after a single listen. It's catchiness and the way the members trade off singing parts contribute to the song's good chemistry. The hook during the chorus is truly moving!
