To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sale of their long-selling “Milk Caramel” brand, Morinaga released a special movie called “A Child Enshrouded in Constant Love” on June 1 on their official website. The anime was produced by Studio 4°C. The anime studio representing Japan has collaborated with Morinaga to support Japan’s “candy culture.”
The anime is about two-minutes long. Morinaga Milk Caramels have built up a hundred year history inherited from mother to child, and so they took the “eternally unchanging merit of caramel” as the theme. In the anime, a heartwarming story comes into being through a “strange experience” of the caramel traveling between a mother and her child. The aim was to create an emotionally moving work that conveyed to anyone the friendliness of one hundred years of unchanging affection.
Anime producers Studio 4°C are well known for such series as Tekkonkinkreet: Black & White and Berserk Golden Age Arc. Yoshiharu Ashino, director of The Adventures of Tweeny Witches, was appointed as animation director. Alongside him was a noteworthy formation of other staff, including CGI director Kousuke Kawamura, color designer Yuko Nojiri, artists Yusuke Yanagisawa and Hisako Akagi, and animators Mikine Kuwahara and Tatsumori Imoto.
