The genuine end to the anime Gintama, Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya, is fast approaching its July 6 release in Japan. Preparations for the movie are gearing up, and the second round of advance ticket sales began on June 1. Fans are curious as to the contents of the original story of the movie. The movie contains an entirely new episode written just for the occasion by the original author of the series, Sorachi Hideaki. Although news has surfaced that this movie will serve as the end to the Gintama anime, information on the movie has been tightly under wraps.

On May 27 though, a shocking new visual from the movie was released. The artwork serves as a key visual that expresses the movie’s concept. It features a smiling Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura who have their backs to the camera and are looking back over their shoulders. In the foreground stand grown up, future versions of Shinpachi and Kagura. With the representation of Shinpachi, who has grown into a handsome man with glasses and high stature, and Kagura, who has grown into a beautiful woman, there is no doubt that fans will be deeply interested in this visual.

However, a future version of Gintoki is nowhere to be found in the visual. Instead, Shinpachi can be seen holding Gintoki’s sword that is inscribed with the word “Toyako.” Also, the outfit Kagura is wearing has the same design as Gintoki’s favorite kimono. So where the heck is Gintoki? What is the significance of this visual? The mystery deepens. The truth of these mysteries will no doubt be revealed in the movie. There is a little less than a month left to wait until it releases.

This visual is also being used as a special bonus for those who purchase advance tickets to the movie during the second phase of sales, which began on June 1 at participating theaters throughout Japan. The visual is being distributed as a limited clear file. Sales have also begun for paired tickets.
