Every year, a popular Pokémon film is released. This year, the third film of the Pokémon Best Wishes series, ExtremeSpeed Genesect: Mewtwo’s Awakening, will release on July 13 together with the short film Pikachu and Eevee Friends. The short film is an enjoyable and heartwarming story featuring adorable Pikachu, Eevee, and all of Eevee’s evolutions. Sylveon, the newest Eevee evolution, will be voiced by Shoko Nakagawa, and the film will be narrated by Atsuko Maeda. The participation by both stars has garnered the film a lot of attention.
On May 22, a project supporting the new work was announced. The popular idol group Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku (EbiChu) will collaborate with Pikachu and Eevee Friends. EbiChu sings “Let's Join Hands” which is the current ending theme for the TV anime Pokémon Best Wishes! Season 2: Decolora Adventures and planned ending theme for Pikachu and Eevee Friends. Also, fans can check out a photo of EbiChu personifying Eevee and all of its evolutions. A mangatized version of the photo was shown at the same time the ending theme premiered on the anime broadcast on May 23. Also on May 26, “Let’s Join Hands” was featured on the special Pokémon news program, Pokémon Smash!

“Now, since we are nine members just like the total of Eevee plus it’s evolutions, it was decided we’d do this collaboration. Normally, the members primarily wear the same outfits, so the outfits with colors that matched each version of Eevee and had ears and tails were so cute! We also hope those who watch Pokémon will also get to know each of us.”
