This episode centers on the backstory of one of Kirino’s few otaku friends: Makishima Saori aka Saori Bajeena.

Being a young lady from a distinguished family, Saori previously had a shy personality. She grew up with an active older sister with varied interests who was the exact opposite of her. While her sister was in her life, she introduced Saori to her club of friends who were all interested in otaku activities, to which she was the leader. At first, Saori couldn’t fit in with them due to her shyness, but she gradually became accepted into the group. However, just when things were going well and she was opening up to everyone, her sister suddenly stopped coming to the club, and it was eventually disbanded as the other members in turn stopped coming as well. Even though Saori lost the place where she felt she belonged, from that experience she gained the power to recover and start again, ultimately finding a new place to belong with Kyosuke, Kirino, and Kuroneko.
