From March 29-31, the anime convention Sakura-Con was held in Seattle, Washington, U.S. In addition to the countless anime items for sale and on display at booths, the convention had many other events including cosplay events, anime screenings, discussion panels, signings with creators and artists, and more. The convention was huge, with more than 70,000 people attending.
However, the event that really stood out was the TV anime Sword Art Online double concert “Eir Aoi x Luna Haruna Special Live.” Roughly 5,000 fans gathered to see these two singers who traveled all the way from Japan for the concert.
Luna Haruna started by singing the ending theme to the second season of Fate/Zero, called “Up in the Sky, the Wind Sings,” and the ending theme the the Fairy Dance Arc of Sword Art Online, called “Overfly.” She then sang her new single “The World I Gave to You,” which will be released on May 15, for the first time live. The fans all loved her strong and clear voice and they filled the auditorium with glow sticks colored green (her theme color).
Eir Aoi began her set by singing the opening theme “Aurora” from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. After that, she followed up with three more songs back to back all sung passionately. Such an overwhelming performance had fans going wild and the whole auditorium was dyed blue by their glow sticks. When she sang the opening theme to the Fairy Dance Arc of Sword Art Online, “Innocence,” fans were boiling over with shouts and cheers of joy.
As the ending to the concert, both Eir and Luna did a surprise collaboration and covered both the opening theme and ending theme to the Aincrad Arc of Sword Art Online, “Dream World” and “Crossing Field.” Due to fans’ enthusiasm and love of these two artists, the event ended as a huge success.
