There are assuredly many Detective Conan fans who would like to experience its thrilling world in real life. The JR Harajuku Station Takeshita Guchi was recently taken over with posters promoting an event to let fans do just that.
The famous company Scrap, who is known for creating real world escape games, teamed up with Detective Conan to create a real escape game called “Escape from the Skyscraper,” which is currently being held in Tokyo. The event has already been held in Osaka and Fukuoka and it is planned to be held in all parts of Japan. We participated in the event in Tokyo to bring you an exclusive report of the experience.
The event began in a room prepared by Scrap in Harajuku, Tokyo. Since the game was held at 9 p.m., the area was silent; it was the best environment in which to enjoy a mystery game. Once the introduction movie featuring Shinichi Kudo and Ran finished, the room the participants were in changed to a room at the top of a skyscraper. Participants had only one hour to solve the mysteries of the skyscraper and escape before a bomb went off.
Various cryptic riddles left by the bomber were strewn around the room and participants wrestled with solving them. There were so many to solve that it seemed an impossible task given the amount of time we had. A tiny flame was sparked among the participants as we realized that if we all worked together, we would surely be able to escape. After we solved many of the riddles, we learned that the truth behind the mystery was...!? Well, we’d rather not spoil it for you, just in case you were going to play it.
