Once upon a time, in a beautiful, flourishing forest lived a minority tribe called the Kurta clan. They had a law that forbade leaving the forest, and they lived peacefully isolated within their own world. However, one day, tragedy struck. A super vicious band of thieves known as the Phantom Troupe came and killed all of them. They sought the beautiful Scarlet Eyes that the people of the Kurta clan possessed. When they are excited, the Kurta people's eyes turn scarlet. This is known to be one of the Seven Beauties of the World. In the massacre, one boy alone survived. His name was Kurapika. He swore revenge on the Troupe, and thus began his life as a Hunter.
