The theme of “bikes and girls” for Cyborgnene’s latest cosplay photoshoot was born during a conversation Cyborgnene had with her promoter and team photographer, Pai. During the conversation, they were struck with the simple thought, “How cool would it be if we combined bikes and girls!” However, when they began putting more thought into it, they ran into many questions such as, where they would get the bikes from, who would drive them to the venue, and more importantly, where they could even do such a photoshoot. There were a ton of details to nail down before Cyborgnene even stepped in front of the cameras.
One of the most important factors in answering these questions was Cyborgnene’s allure and fan appeal. Cyborgene reached out to her fans who had participated in previous photoshoots and many of them enthusiastically lent their support and bikes, even saying that they would drive them to the venue. Of course, securing the venue was also important, and they were able to find and reserve a nearby studio that is also used as a warehouse and factory. The venue even had a lift that went up to the roof big enough to fit the bikes. Talk about getting lucky! With the logistical problems out of the way, the curtain was raised on the photoshoot.
This marvelous opportunity was to be the last photoshoot for Cyborgnene, who has been announcing for some time that she would stop her activity as Cyborgnene at the end of 2012. Luckily for us, this decision was delayed until after the “bikes and girls” photoshoot. In either case though, we were saddened by the news.
Before our time together came to an end, we asked Cyborgnene what her plans are for the future, and we were pleasantly surprised by the answer: “Even though this is the end of Cyborgnene, I think I am still going to share various work intended for overseas users from here on out as Nene. Nene is still going to be very active not only in cosplay, but also Japanese pop culture, subculture, and as a moto girl artist. I hope you all look forward to it.” Whew, she had us scared there for a moment!
