Anime Songs Dominate Joysound’s 2012 Rankings of Top Karaoke Songs

Presently, anime songs are the standard when it comes to karaoke. They seem to always be at the top of every karaoke company’s rankings, and many people in Japan love singing them. Recently, Joysound, a popular chain of karaoke clubs throughout Japan, released its rankings for 2012. Read on to see which songs made the list.

Coming in at number one on the Overall Ranking was AKB48’s huge hit “Heavy Rotation”, followed by the Hatsune Miku song “Senbonzakura” at number three, the theme to Evangelion, “Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis” at number four, and the opening theme to Macross F, “Lion” at number twelve. The top spots on the Artist Ranking included AKB48 again at number one, along with other popular artists such as Exile, Arashi, and Mr. Children. The list definitely shows the popularity of anime songs.

The Anime/Special Effects/Game Ranking included even more anime songs such as the theme song to Genesis of Aquarion, the ending theme to Bakemonogatari, “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari”, and the theme song to the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi movie, “God Knows...”. The list was dominated by many of the same songs from previous years’ rankings, with “Maji Love 1000%”, the theme song to Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love 1000%, fighting hard to stay near the top of the list with its number seven ranking.

The popularity of singing anime songs shows no signs of slowing down. Even in 2013, expect to see people all over Japan singing along to their favorite anime songs.
