"Ragnarok Online" 10th Anniversary Countdown Event Report

GungHo Online Entertainment's MMORPG Ragnarok Online ushered in its 10th year of operation on Dec. 1, 2012. In celebration of the special occasion, an event titled "Ragnarok Online 10th Anniversary Countdown ~ Festa Zenyasai in Akiba! ~" was held at i-Cafe Akiba Place, an internet cafe in Akihabara, on Nov. 30, 2012.

About 40 fans braved the late night cold to take part in the event. Many of them spent the night at the cafe in order to attend the event the next day. The 10th anniversary countdown event was broadcast live on Nico Nico Douga and hosted by a cast of four consisting of the Ragnarok Girls Miri and Youko Inui, Hitoshi Iino from the Ragnarok Online Operation Team, and special supporter Yuuna Shirakawa.

There was a slight technical error that caused login problems for a while, but the problem was resolved before the countdown after a scramble among staff. Participants at the countdown were given a cracker each, and the countdown began. The moment the date changed to Dec. 1, the streamers fell and the message "Congratulations! RO 10th Anniversary" was displayed. Viewers on Nico Nico Douga celebrated as well.
