In Japan, it is customary to visit a shrine during the New Year’s holiday to offer your prayers for the year. In keeping with this tradition, TokyoOtakuMode’s editorial team recently visited the Kanda Shrine, which has a long and rich history. Since the shrine is located near Akihabara, people who are interested in the subculture of anime and manga visit the shrine in great numbers.
After our visit to the Kanda Shrine, we stopped by a shop in Akihabara called Akihabara Gamers, which captures the fascination of many fans due to its anime goods and events.
Currently, Akihabara Gamers is hosting an event to commemorate the start of the broadcast for the TV anime Nekomonogatari: Kuro called “Monogatari Series Museum”. The event features items from the series on display, such as illustrations and school uniforms. What’s more, goods from the series, including figures, glasses, and tableware, are on sale. It’s a great exhibit for fans.
When asked about the success of the museum, a staff member at the shop said, “The reaction to the museum has been good. Not just Japanese people, but overseas people as well are coming and enjoying themselves.” After seeing fans staring engrossedly at the items on display as well as buying goods, it definitely appeared as though they were fully enjoying the event.
