Absolutely amazed

I missed out on this figure the first time around, so I was quite glad I managed to snag it as a re-run. Just got around to opening it up now after having received it a couple of week ago, and I'm amazed with how nice it looks with first impressions. It was well worth the wait.

First off, the package came in was a clear plastic box, and while it's aesthetically minimal, it made removal of the tape quite nice and easy with no residue left behind like paper card-stock boxes which are almost impossible to get off. As a collector that likes to keep all their empty boxes in as nice condition as possible, this is a big bonus for me.

Slanted and pieces don't fit correctly.

The breast area doesn't align with the suit piece and juts out a couple of millimeters, so there's that major quality control issue there.

Also, the entire figure is slanted and looks like it's about to fall over. The photos would have you think that it's standing upright, but nope, it may as well be on a 45 degree angle, and it has nothing to do with the how the feet pegs are positioned, as it's the whole body that is slanted.

I could live with the slanted issue since I can just turn it in a way that it's not noticeable looking at it dead on (as they have done so from the photo), but the breast piece sticking out makes me want to take a file ...

Exactly as expected: a fantastic product, and very relevant to the series as well. Maki-e art originated in the Heian period, where the poetry the series features also originates from; a time where culture was being heavily developed in a similar fashion to Shakespearean plays still being appreciated to this day. And now the age-old art of Maki-e evolved into the pop-culture age, made into easily applicable stickers. It's also not too often you see Maki-e stickers at all, let alone for an anime or manga series (unless you know where to look, or live in Japan), as much as say figurines or plushies, so this is a very pleasant treat to see these exist at all for this series that has far to...Read moreClose
