Alternate Title

レヱル・ロマネスク

Synopsis

Maitetsu takes place in an alternate reality in Japan, where railroads have become forgotten about and discontinued after a new form of travel emerges. Migita Sotetsu returns to his hometown of Ohitoyo after hearing that an industrial factory is to be built along a landmark river. His goal is to change the minds of the residents and stop the factory from being built, convinced instead that the town would prosper if it had an independent means to stimulate the economy instead of relying on a factory. One day while going through his late adoptive father’s belongings, he happens to find a girl named Hachiroku who is an android-like being referred to as a “Railllord.” Together, the two begin to forge a deep bond as they work together to restore Ohitoyo to its former glory.

Featuring new original characters, the anime is set in the fictional southern Hinomoto city of Ohitoyo after it is successfully revitalized. The city is planning to host the first ever Maitetsu Festival to bring together Raillords and their masters from all over the region, and Suzushiro and other famed Railords are hard at work planning a “Raillord Summit” in conjunction.
