Synopsis

After a mysterious series of disappearances on a seemingly infinitely-long train, Tanjiro Kamado together with sister Nezuko and his friends from the Demon Slayer Corps accompany Kyojuro Rengoku to investigate the train. However, a powerful demon and the last of the Lower Moons named Enmu has prepared a trap and lies in wait for them.

Background

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba began as a manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge that was was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 2016 to May 2020. It has seen several spin-offs to date including Kimetsu no Yaiba: Tomioka Giyu Gaiden, Kimetsu no Aima!, and Kimetsu no Yaiba: Rengoku Gaiden.

Three light novels have also been released: Demon Slayer: Flower of Happiness by Gotoge and Aya Yajima which was released in February 2019, Demon Slayer: One-Winged Butterfly which was released in October 2019, and Demon Slayer: The Wind's Telltale Signs which was released in July 2020.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Train is the series’ first theatrical animated film following the popular TV anime adaptation which aired from April to September 2019. The film was announced in September 2019 following the airing of episode 26 of the anime. Staff from the TV anime have returned for the film including Haruo Sotozaki as director, Akira Matsushima as character designer and chief animation director, and Go Shiina and Yuki Kajiura as music composers. The film premiered in Japan on Oct. 16, 2020 and has become the fastest film in Japan to earn 10 billion yen in box office revenue. Funimation and Aniplex USA will bring the film to US theaters in 2021.

Characters

Tanjiro Kamado (Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae)
Tanjiro is a Demon Slayer Corps member who is adept at Water Breathing and Hinokami Kagura which he learned from his father. He is kind-hearted and cares greatly for his sister, Nazuko. He goes on a journey to avenge his family who was killed by demons and save his sister who was turned into a demon.

Nezuko Kamado (Voiced by: Akari Kito)
Nezuko is Tanjiro’s sister who was turned into a demon although she still holds on to some of her humanity and does not attack people. She is carried in a wooden box by Tanjiro during the day in order to avoid the sun and regain her strength.

Zenitsu Agatsuma (Voiced by: Hiro Shimono)
Zenitsu is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps who is adept at Thunder Breathing. He is a bit of a coward and faints when he becomes overcome with fear. He also loves girls and aspires to be a playboy.

Inosuke Hashibira (Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)
Inosuke is a Demon Slayer Corps member who is adept at Beast Breathing and wears a boar mask. He was raised in the wild and fights using two serrated swords.

Kyojuro Rengoku (Voiced by: Satoshi Hino)
Kyojuro is the Flame Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps who has mastered Flame Breathing. He is a powerful swordsman and has a friendly personality. He goes to investigate the Mugen Train after 40 people go missing.

Shinjuro Rengoku (Voiced by: Rikiya Koyama)
Kyojuro’s father.

Ruka Rengoku (Voiced by: Megumi Toyoguchi)
Kyojuro’s mother.

Senjuro Rengoku (Voiced by: Junya Enoki)
Kyojuro’s younger brother.

Enmu (Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa)
Enmu is a sadistic demon who enjoys seeing the misery and suffering of others. He holds the position of Lower Moon One but is as strong as the Upper Moons. His Blood Demon Art allows him to enter and manipulate a person's dream so he can kill them.

Akaza (Voiced by: Akira Ishida)
Akaza is a demon with the position of Upper Moon Three who has tremendous power.
