Synopsis
Nijigasaki High School is a popular high school in Odaiba, Tokyo, with a free school spirit and a variety of majors. Yu Takasaki, a second-year student at the school, was fascinated by the charms of school idol life and joined the school idol club together with childhood friend Ayumu Uehara. Together with a group of talented girls who are sometimes rivals and sometimes companions, the girls strive to achieve their dreams of becoming school idols.
Background
Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is a multimedia project that serves as a spin-off to the Love Live! series. It was initially created as part of the game Love Live! School Idol Festival All Stars. The anime adaptation is being produced by Sunrise and features Tomoyuki Kawamura as director, Jin Tanaka as series composer, Takumi Yokota as character designer, and Naoki Endo as music composer. The anime premiered in Japan on Oct. 3, 2020 on Tokyo MX, KBS, and other channels. It will run for 13 episodes and is available to stream in North America through Funimation.

Yu Takasaki (Voiced by: Hinaki Yano)
Yu is a second-year student at Nijigasaki High School and Ayumu’s childhood friend. She falls in love with idols after seeing Setsuna Yuki's performance and decides to enroll at Nijigasaki High School along with Ayumu.
Ayumu Uehara (Voiced by: Aguri Onishi)
Ayumu is a second-year student at Nijigasaki High School and Yu’s childhood friend. She becomes a school idol at Yu’s suggestion. She is a hard worker who tries her best at everything she does.
Kasumi Nakasu (Voiced by: Mayu Sagara)
Kasumi is a first-year student at Nijigasaki High School who wants to become an idol and keep the school idol club alive. She calls herself “Kasumin.” She loves cute things and hates to lose.
Shizuku Osaka (Voiced by: Kaori Maeda)
Shizuku is a first-year honors student at Nijigasaki High School and member of the theater club. She is one of the five original members of the school idol club but quit when she became devoted to the theater club.
Ai Miyashita (Voiced by: Natsumi Murakami)
Ai is a second-year honors student at Nijigasaki High School. Despite her gyaru look she is quite smart. She joins the school idol club due to wanting to try something new. She likes making puns out of her name.
Kanata Konoe (Voiced by: Akari Kito)
Kanata is a third-year honors student at Nijigasaki High School who always looks sleepy and unmotivated. She is one of the five original members of the school idol club but quit when she had to focus on improving her exam scores.
Setsuna Yuki / Nana Nakagawa (Voiced by: Tomori Kusunoki)
Setsuna is a second-year student at Nijigasaki High School despite the fact that no one has ever seen her at school. She is an otaku who likes singing anime songs. She goes by the stage name Setsuna Yuki but her real name is Nana Nakagawa.
Emma Verde (Voiced by: Maria Sashide)
Emma is a third-year exchange student at Nijigasaki High School originally from Switzerland. She loves nature and eating bread. She aspires to be a school idol.
Rina Tennoji (Voiced by: Chiemi Tanaka)
Rina is a first-year student at Nijigasaki High School who claims to have a cute face but is too embarrassed to show it and instead always covers her face with a notebook called the "Rina-chan board” which she draws faces on to convey how she feels.
Shioriko Mifune (Voiced by: Moeka Koizumi)
Shioriko is a first-year student at Nijigasaki High School who wants to abolish the school idol club for some reason.
