Director Yasuhiro Yoshiura, who started a big movement between 2008 and 2010 with Time of Eve, is delivering a new anime film this fall. Patema Inverted tells about the encounter and the adventures of a boy and a girl who live in a weird, inverted world that is upside down.
This is director Yoshiura’s first theatrical anime, and it will be released on Nov. 9. Moreover, on Aug. 8, the official site renewed and reopened, and it is now feeding the newest information. From Aug. 30, they are planning to start selling tickets in advance with movie ticket cards.
In addition, the trailer for this film was also released. In this two-minute-long mysterious, but fascinating video, the world turns upside down many times. In June, the trailer was screened at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, where it gained international attention. Patema Inverted is probably one of the most talked-about anime of this fall. Regarding the staff, Yoshiura is responsible for the script and direction, the music is being handled by Michiru Oshima, Ryūsuke Chayama is in charge of the original character design, and Annin Dofu is responsible for costume design. On the voice cast side, Yukiyo Fujii will take on the role of Patema, and Age will be voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto.
Patema Inverted starts from the encounter between a girl named Patema who came down from an underground world and a boy named Age. The story is about the two, who live in a strange world that was born as a consequence of unusual phenomenon attacking their original worlds. Their mysterious encounter then turns into a case of solving the puzzle of the sealed “inverted world.”
In this mysterious world, director Yoshiura depicts the cliched “boy meets girl” premise, but from a world where two people can’t share the same viewpoint or sensations even if they are at the same place. So begins the spectacle of Patema Inverted; something that no one has ever seen before.
