Synopsis
Hazuki Kagimura escapes from her lonely life with her new family by reading stories. One day while in the library after school she stumbles upon a hooded girl and portal that magically transports her into a school of magic where students (aka Märchen) have been chosen by old fairytales and folktales. Hazuki was chosen by the story Cinderella. Märchen Mädchen follows her new life as she learns to yield magic alongside her new friend Shizuka Tsuchimikado and fellow students.

Background
Written by the late Tomohiro Matsu and StoryWorks and with illustrations by Kantoku, Märchen Mädchen began as a Japanese light novel series. Three volumes have been published by Shueisha under their Dash X Bunko imprint as of February 2018. The manga adaptation written by Takatoshi Nakamura with illustrations by Kiyotsugu Yamagata is currently serialized in the Shueisha shonen magazine Jump SQ. The 12-episode TV anime adaptation premiered in January 2018 and was licensed by Crunchyroll for international online streaming in English. DMM Games has also announced an online game in the works.

Self-diagnosed with “Story Syndrome,” she deals with her upsetting emotions by escaping into a fantasy story. Her love of such stories came from her mother who died when she was little.
