Volume 014 - Alicization Uniting

Eugeo remembers his old self but is forced by the Piety Module to attack Kirito and Alice and encase them in ice. He tricks Chudelkin into going to free his friends, then he also tricks Quinella and tries killing her. Soon a three-on-two fight follows, and Cardinal also joins in later.

Kirito talks about the real world, the apocalypse, and the I.K purpose. Quinella finds a potential military use for 40 thousand humans, and Eugeo gets an idea. Before dying, Cardinal turns him into a Divine Object sword which lets him wound Quinella and turn back.

After an over-the-top Sword Art-based battle with Divine Objects transforming and overpowering each other, Quinella loses and tries to escape to the real world, but the burning Chudelkin rushes into her column of light and hugs her, which results in the both burning to death.

Eugeo and Young Alice's Fluctlights love each other so much no system authority can impact them, and they die happy together, letting Kirito and Knight Alice care of the future of humanity.

Another fight was happening on the Ocean Turtle, and Kirito learns Asuna was there, but then there is a blackout that damages his Fluctlight.

Volume 015 - Alicization Invading

At the Bullet of Bullets tournament in Gun Gale Online, Subtilizer (Gabriel Miller) defeats Sinon with his bare hands. The Fluctlight-obsessed Gabriel rides a sub to infiltrate Rath and steal their Soul Translator technology on a contract from NSA.

Meanwhile in Underworld, Knight Alice informs the I.K. about the invasion, thinks herself unable to use the sword properly, and lives in the north in seclusion with an unresponsive Kirito, who nevertheless reacted to a curious villager's attempt to take the Blue Rose Sword. A few dark creature parties attack nearby. Half a year later, Alice goes east to the war, taking Kirito along.

The Ocean Turtle is under attack, and a high-ranking JSDF conspiracy seems to be in motion. Gabriel, Vassago Casals, and Critter try to get to the Lightcube Cluster, but Gabriel wants to take the tech for his own experiments. He can log in right now, so he wants to find Alice in Underworld. Critter finds the "Emperor Vecta" account that is not passworded, and also notices the term "Final Load Test".

Higa Takeru tells Asuna how bad off Kazuto is, and says a stimulation in Underworld could help. Asuna immediately volunteers, although a massive invasion is afoot, and Takeru agrees she is the best candidate for help. Seijirō says she should get a high-authority account, while Rinko is concerned about the attackers and also thinks to get Alice out.

Over in Dark Territory, Lipia and Shasta consider peace with the I.K. now that Administrator is no more. Suddenly, in Obsidia Palace, the Dark God and Emperor Vecta awakens, guided by Gabriel, and a Dark Knight of Vassago. Gabriel plays the ruthless war emperor and declares he needs "blood and fear, flames and destruction, death and screams". Lipia tries assassinating Vecta to save people, and he kills her. Shasta learns of this.

Bercouli tests Kirito's Sword Art and confirms he is not dead inside and has protected Alice with Incarnation skills.

Shasta bares his Incarnation blade against Vecta. The assassin Fu Za poisons Shasta at that moment, but the paralyzed Shasta Incarnates a vortex that contains Shasta's own self, killing Fu Za and two orc warchiefs and ripping Dee Eye Ell's leg off. The Lightcube-level skill does not erase the real man Gabriel, but gets deep within his soul. Shasta finds nothing there at all, realizes Gabriel does not even understand the concept of life, and needs to tell someone, but it is too late for him. Moreover, the lack of effect of his attack on Vecta makes everyone watching really fear the emperor.

Alice thinks to let her feelings try and reach Kirito when Tiese and Ronie visit her and wonder if Kirito and Eugeo are dead. She invites them in but Kirito would not react to the old friends. They are mortified, and the Blue Rose Sword talks to Tiese to console her as Eugeo. Alice thinks they have to reach the World's End Altar for the answers.

Bercouli comments he fought for his life less than Kirito, and that Kirito will decide the outcome of the war. Fanatio appears to thank Kirito and tease Alice, tensions rise. Bercouli is gone. Fanatio then tells Alice she should lead the army, being stronger than any I.K.

Vecta's fifty thousand-strong forces prepare to storm the eastern gate.

Alice is about to leave Kirito with Tiese and Ronie. They discuss the past events, and Alice takes on Kirito's role to show them that willpower and forward motion are key. She goes to the impending battle.

Moon Cradle Arc

The side story from before the end of Alicization Arc that is written across Volumes 19 to 21. It details the search for the mastermind stirring another conflict between the Human Empire and the Dark Territory.
