Synopsis

Fuuto - a city where the wind blows relentlessly and brings both small luck and great misfortunes. The Museum, an organization that once threatened the city, has been driven to destruction by the Kamen Riders. However, a dangerous item mass produced by the organization called Gaia Memories have been scattered around the city. As emotions rage in Fuuto, an unending number of people are transformed into monsters called Dopants due to the power of the Memories.

Shotaro Hidari is a “half-boiled” detective whose kindness makes him indecisive. Philip is a brainy detective and his trusted partner. Both work for the Narumi Detective Office, which receives strange cases from all over the city.

A mysterious shadow begins to lurk in the windy city, and a devilish beauty named Tokime suddenly appears. An encounter with her will change Shotaro’s fate. The curtain rises on a new case for Shotaro and Philip, two hotshot detectives who are also Kamen Rider Double!

Background

Fuuto PI started as a manga series written by Riku Sanjo and illustrated by Masaki Sato that serves as the sequel to the TV series Kamen Rider W. It began serialization in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in August 2017, and as of February 2022, 12 collected tankobon volumes have been published.

A TV anime adaptation was announced in April 2021. It is being produced by Studio KAI and features Yousuke Kabashima as director and Ayataka Tanemura as assistant director, with Tatsuto Higuchi handling series composition, Riku Sanjo supervising the scripts, Hidekazu Ebina handling character designs, Hiroyuki Taiga handling mechanical and prop design, and Kotaro Nakagawa and Shuhei Naruse composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Private Eye" by Big Gadgets feat. Aya Kamiki with TAKUYA, and the ending theme song is "Tsumi to Batsu to Angura" by Mitsuru Matsuoka. The anime will premiere worldwide at Anime Expo on July 2, 2022 and will begin broadcasting in Japan on Aug. 8. It will steam overseas through Crunchyroll as it airs.

Shotaro Hidari / Kamen Rider W (Voiced by: Yoshimasa Hosoya)
A “half-boiled” private detective who acts like he’s hard-boiled. Together with his partner Philip, he transforms into Kamen Rider W and takes on mysterious incidents that occur in Fuuto. One day, he receives a request to find a mysterious woman called the “Witch of the T-intersection,” and he gets caught up in a storm of fate…

Philip / Kamen Rider W (Voiced by: Kouki Uchiyama)
Shotaro’s partner who is also a detective in Fuuto. He uses his calm judgment to solve cases, but on the flipside, he is also strongly attracted to keywords that arouse his curiosity and blind him to what’s going on around him. He surmises that their current case is a weak point for Shotaro and is anxious about it.

Tokime (Voiced by: Akira Sekine)
A devilish and beautiful woman whom Shotaro meets by chance on a pier at night. She is elusive and is rumored by the townspeople to be the “Witch of the T-intersection.” The scent of flowers that she leaves behind foreshadows the beginning of new incidents that arise around Fuuto.

Akiko Narumi (Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu)
The head of the ​​Narumi Detective Office. He single-handedly takes care of office work, chores, and looks after Philip. Originally from Osaka, she uses unusual methods to help solve cases. She is married to Ryu Terui, who still calls her “Boss.”

Ryu Terui / Kamen Rider Accel (Voiced by: Makoto Furukawa)
He is a detective with the Futo Police Department's Paranormal Crime Investigation Division and is Kamen Rider Accel. Together with his subordinates Jinno and Makura, he is officially in charge of Gaia Memory crimes. He is wary of an “enormous shadow” that has begun moving behind the scenes. His catchphrase is “Don’t ask me.”

Yukiji Bando (Voiced by: Daisuke Ono)
A mysterious man who appears in Fuuto wearing a pure white suit. He is highly charismatic and possesses deep knowledge about Gaia Memories. And is trying to contact those who have an aptitude to become Dopants.
