Synopsis

“I don’t know how to give up on my dreams…”
Hoshitani has finally performed with the “high school student he admires” Otori Itsuki and is now working hard on musical in the music department every day to achieve his next dream. However, a “New Trial” awaits…! The second semester is starting and the Ayanagi Festival is nearing. It will be the first time taking the stage without the help of a leader. No longer bound by teams, they hold new hands and will put their all into making it the best show yet! The Kao Council has also announced a new program called the Opening Ceremony. The student selected to perform will be the next best candidate for the Kao Council, but they won’t be able to participate in the class performance as a price in return?! The last act, for the moment, rises for this musical, slice-of-life, slapstick anime!

Background

Starmyu is a musical, slice-of-life, slapstick series that originated as a manga written by Ren Hido serialized in Sylph from May-October 2015 and published by ASCII Media Works. Since then it has generated three anime seasons, two OVAs, a stage musical adaptation, an additional manga (Star-Myu: Stardust's Dream), two radio programs and multiple musical song CDs and drama CDs. The anime have been handled by studio C-Station, directed by Shunsuke Tada, written by Sayaka Harada, and features music by Ken Arai. The first two seasons have been licensed overseas by Funimation. The third season will begin airing on July 1, 2019.

Characters

Kaito Tsukigami (Voiced by: Arthur Lounsbery)

Kaito Tsukigami comes from a musically talented family. His father a famous director, his mother one of the most prolific theatrical actresses in Japan, and his older brother a musical genius. He, however, doesn’t like when this is mentioned to him and he feels he must work hard to earn respect for his own skills and talent as well as to not remain in his older brother’s shadow. He aims to be a great actor. He has a realistic, somewhat stiff personality. He is a member of Team Otori.

Toru Nayuki (Voiced by: Kensho Ono)

Toru Nayuki is Yuta Hoshitani’s roommate and one of his closest friends. He has a kind and gentle personality, often acting as a peacekeeper among his friends. He struggles with stage fright, but drinks a special family tea to help cope. He sleeps with a stuffed dolphin. He is a member of Team Otori.

Yuta Hoshitani (Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae)

Yuta Hoshitani might be an amateur concerning musicals and theater, but his bright, cheerful, never-give-up personality and quick learning ability helps him overcome any obstacles he faces towards achieving his dreams. He is a member of Team Otori.

Shu Kuga (Voiced by: Tomoaki Maeno)

Shu Kuga is quiet and aloof. His love of musicals originated from imitating the ones he saw on television for his mother to make her smile when he was young, after his father died. He soon realized how fun they were and hopes to show her a real musical one day. Despite seeming like a loner, he has friends and speaks up whenever he needs to. He is a member of Team Otori. He also works at a bar with a piano. Torashi calls him a workaholic.

Kakeru Tengenji (Voiced by: Yoshimasa Hosoya)

Kakeru Tengenji is a snooty noble who looks down on those who are lower than him in terms of status and ability. He is a brutally honest person. Due to his fame as a Kabuki actor he has many female fans and must wear glasses as a disguise when out in public. He has a black cat named Tavian and absolutely adores him. He is a member of Team Otori.

Shion Kasugano (Voiced by: Daiki Yamashita)

Shion Kasugano is a member of the Kao Council. He is a slightly quirky person who likes fortune telling. He is making his first appearance in season 3 of the anime.

Toma Shiki (Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa)

Toma Shiki is a member of the Kao Council. Outside of performing, he doesn’t like to stand out and isn’t much interested in prestige. He is making his first appearance in season 3 of the anime.

Chiaki Takafumi (Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi)

Chiaki is a member of the Kao Council. He was friends with Ryo Fuyusawa as a child but after an incident the two seem to no longer get along. He is making his first appearance in season 3 of the anime.

Seishiro Inumine (Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu)

Seishiro Inumine has a bright and friendly personality similar to Hoshitani, but he’s also a bit of an airhead - his habits often annoying people especially those who find him useless other than his musical ability. Similar to a dog, he can’t focus on much else when food is around. He often sings out of nowhere. He is a member of Team Hiragi.

So Hachiya (Voiced by: Kengo Takanashi)

So Hachiya is clumsy and close friends with Riku Ageha. He is a member of Team Yuzuriha.

Izumi Toraishi (Voiced by: Kenn)

Izumi Toraishi is a member of Team Hiragi. He is referred to as “lover boy” because he spends his free time dating multiple women at once. He has a cool personality and can be both carefree and serious when necessary such as when he works hard singing and dancing. He is roommates with Kitahara.

Rui Tatsumi (Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto)

Rui Tatsumi is the leader of Team Hiragi. He is confident yet humble and kind as well as respected by his peers. He is roommates with Eigo Sawatari.

Riku Ageha (Voiced by: Nobunaga Shimazaki)

Riku Ageha is a member of Team Yuzuriha. He believes he is perfect, but treats Haruto as a god. He is roommates with Hachiya. People find him disconnected, hard to read, and narcissistic.

Masashi Irinatsu (Voiced by: Ryota Ohsaka)

Masashi Irinatsu is a member of the Kao Council. His blood type is O. He has a parent that is a famous musician and he himself works on music production. He has a kind, warm heart and often acts as a mediator.

Koki Nanjo (Voiced by: Shunsuke Takeuchi)

Koki Nanjo is a member of Team Sazanami. He is polite, charming, and often underestimated, but he doesn’t mind because he feels it helps him win easier.

Ryo Fuyusawa (Voiced by: Soma Saito)

Ryo Fuyusawa is a member of the Kao Council. He has always been at the top of his class and has strong confidence.

Akira Ugawa (Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)

Akira is a member of Team Hiragi. His team says he’s not a bad guy, but he thinks he looks down on people who aren’t talented and insults them. He is roommates with Inumine.

Ren Kitahara (Voiced by: Yuichiro Umehara)

Ren Kitahara is a member of Team Sazanami. He is a very hard worker who won't allow anyone or anything to stand between him and his goal despite seeming lazy at first. He also is somewhat condescending and has a habit of pointing out other people’s flaws. He is roommates with Toraishi.

Eigo Sawatari (Voiced by: Yuma Uchida)

Eigo Sawatari is a member of Team Hiragi. He is very logical, responsible, and observant. He is good friends with Tatsumi whom he has known since birth.
