Synopsis
Get ready to add some ecchi to your magic show! Or is it magic to your ecchi show? Either way, side-splittingly funny moments are bound to ensue when high schooler Tejina Senpai struggles to overcome her stage fright in order to perform as a magician in front of an audience. Tejina’s failed magic tricks usually lead to cringe-worthy and embarrassing sexual situations. Her assistant and kohai is a boy joining the magic club because he has to, but lucky for Tejina, he’s there to steer her out of trouble!
Background
Magical Senpai started as a manga published in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine by creator Azu in February 2016 and is currently ongoing. Liden Films is handling the animated adaptation that will begin airing in July 2019. It will be directed by Fumiaki Usui (Accel World, Love Live! School Idol Project). i☆Ris is performing the OP song, “FANTASTIC ILLUSION.”
Characters
Senpai (Voiced by: Kaede Hondo)
The female main protagonist, Tejina,is often referred to simply as Senpai. She has medium-length straight gray hair and a big bust. She prefers to wear a buttoned-up sweater over her school uniform, and of course, a magician’s cape and tophat. She’s passionate about her magic routine but also very clumsy. Compacted with her crippling stage fright, she has a lot of trouble trying to perform.
Assistant (Voiced by: Aoi Ichikawa)
The supporting male character to Tejina Senpai. Assistant is a high school boy who needs to join Tejina’s magic club. He’s usually the voice of reason and the straight man to the show’s antics.
Sister (Voiced by: Himika Akaneya)
Senpai’s older sister who also teaches at her school. She’s the magic club’s advisor. Her personality is somewhat similar to Senpai’s, and she loves to dress up Senpai in cosplay.
Saki-chan (Voiced by: Eri Kitamura)
A third-year student, Saki-chan is a pretty gal with long light orange hair. She loves her younger brother, Ma-kun. Saki-chan is the president of the Street Performers Club and Senpai’s rival, but she’s just as clumsy as Senpai!
Ma-kun (Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa)
A first-year male student with short black hair and a chonky physique. His older sister is Saki-chan.
Madara-san (Voiced by: Rie Takahashi)
The second-year female president of the Chemistry Club. She has long black hair and wears glasses and a scientist coat. Madara-san sometimes gets annoyed by Senpai.
