Plot

In the Other World Tournament, the Kais are betting on their champions on who will win, Goku throws off a kick to his opponent and is declared the winner. He then faces off with his next opponent in the final round, Pikkon.

Meanwhile, in another part of the Other World, many souls are lined up to stop by at the Check-In station, where King Yemma decides where everyone is supposed to go in the afterlife. Tour guides lead the way. Meanwhile, a teenage ogre listens to his walkman instead of doing his work properly. Suddenly, the Soul Cleansing Machine explodes because of the ogre neglecting his job.

The overflow of the evil essence causes the ogre to turn into a massive monster with a child-like personality. This catastrophe causes the gates of Hell to open, allowing those that have died to return to Earth once again.

On Earth, Goku's family and Videl are enjoying a nice meal together. Chi-Chi feels down with the number of dishes she has to clean, though Videl offers to lend a hand. Chi-Chi asks Videl if she would be marrying Gohan anytime soon. Videl blushes and drops the plates.

Suddenly, Videl gets a call on her wristwatch telling her to come. On the way there, she asks for Gohan's help. Back at the Other World Tournament, Goku and Pikkon are interrupted by strange crystals that begin growing all over the place. Grand Kai sends Goku and Pikkon to investigate. Goku uses Instant Transmission and finds that the whole vicinity is trapped in a gel-like substance.

King Yemma explains the situation and Goku and Pikkon try to blast the gel-like substance, though it doesn’t budge. King Yemma directs both of them to the roof, where the monster Janemba can be seen. When Pikkon tries to question Janemba, he is simply thrown with the flick of a finger. Goku decides to make Janemba follow him down to hell while Pikkon attempts to free King Yemma.

Janemba touches the ground and makes smaller clones of himself. The clones fight Goku, though he can take care of them fairly easily. Meanwhile, back on Earth, zombies roam the land. Videl and Gohan try to fight them off. A zombie version of Frieza finds Gohan, leading to a quick battle between the two. Gohan charges straight to Frieza and punches him in the stomach, causing him to explode. The other villains scatter in fright. In a golf area, Goten and Trunks hunt the Dragon Balls. After finding all seven of them, they wish for the dead to return to their rightful place. Shenron tells them that although he can move the souls to Other World, there is nothing keeping them there because King Yemma is currently incapacitated.

In the Other World, Pikkon continues to try and free King Yemma, but has no luck. In frustration, he shouts some insults, which suddenly causes part of it to break. Since that seemed to work, he continues shouting at the gel-like barrier until it breaks.

Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 3 and launches a series of attacks at Janemba until he is forced into turning into his “Super Janemba” form. Back on Earth, a parody of Hitler fires at Goten and Trunks. The two turn into Super Saiyans and fight back.

Janemba and Goku continue to fight, while Janemba uses his various abilities like Bunkai Teleport and Dimension sword to all but defeat Goku. Vegeta manages to intercept the final blow just in time. He then attempts to fight Janemba himself, but is no match for him. The two try and hide and catch their breath. Goku proposes to use fusion, but Vegeta, fueled by his pride, disagrees.

Janemba continues on his destructive rampage until Vegeta is left with no choice but to do the fusion. Meanwhile, The Hitler parody orders his men to continue attacking Goten and Trunks. Vegeta and Goku do the fusion, but Vegeta messes up the dance, resulting in a failed fusion. They try again and, with the help of Pikkon to buy some time, Super Gogeta emerges. The fused warrior overpowers Super Janemba while the original ogre is left unharmed.

Goten and Trunks sense their fathers fuse together and decide to fuses themselves to get rid of the remaining dead. After Janemba is defeated and the souls of the dead are returned to Other World, Vegeta says farewell to Goku and reverts to his spirit form.

Gotenks and Trunks tell Videl and Gohan that they know who saved the day, but won't tell. In the English version, however, the two tease Gohan and Videl after they kiss. The film ends with a shot of Shenron waiting on someone to claim the remaining wishes.
