Figure maker Volks will celebrate the grand opening of Akihabara’s largest comprehensive hobby building, Volks Akihabara Hobby Paradise, on Nov. 22. The building is eight floors total, from the basement to the seventh floor, and their product lineup covers everything on the frontline of the hobby world including, of course, the newest plastic models and figures, as well as character goods, Akihabara souvenirs, and more.
Volks is a figure maker that deals in a wide variety of hobby products, beginning with the rounded-joint dolls called Super Dollfie and figures from The Five Star Stories. The top floor of Volks Akihabara Hobby Paradise, the seventh floor, is an event hall in which will be held exhibits and events sponsored by Volks.
The first floor and basement floor are home to rental showcases, which are famous in Akihabara. Here, exhibitors give prices to items they’d like to sell and put them up for sale in the showcase. There are more than 1,500 cases, and there are even a great many “Card Rental Cases” which are low-profile cases suitable for trading cards. This will likely be a convenient place for both exhibitors and customers.
A trading card area will be set up on the sixth floor. They are also greatly expanding the lineup they offer. On the same floor is a new trial for Volks: selling used items. Volks will now buy and sell hobby products including trading cards and all kinds of figures. It seems fans will now be able to enjoy selling their unneeded cards and purchasing cards they want.
In addition to this, each floor will offer different items, with the fifth floor offering mecha-related products, the fourth floor offering bishoujo figures, prizes and shokugan toys on the third floor, character goods on the second floor, and so on. In celebration of the grand opening, a three-day event will be held from the 22-24. Details can be found on the official site.
