First Full-Blown Art Exhibit for Anime Haikyu!! to Be Held in Niigata Starting in December

An original art exhibit for the TV anime Haikyu!! will be held at the Niigata Manga Animation Museum starting on Saturday, Dec. 6. The exhibit is named “Haikyu!! Anime Original Art Exhibit - Winter Niigata Tour” and is the first full-blown art exhibit for the series.

The anime Haikyu!! is based on the volleyball manga of the same name by Haruichi Furudate that is serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump. The story focuses on young man Shoyo Hinata who is entranced with volleyball and genius player Tobio Kageyama, and depicts the passionate adolescent life of them and their friends on the Karasuno High School volleyball team. The anime keeps intact the original story’s passion and careful depictions, and is praised for its sense of liveliness unique to animation. The anime broadcast ran from April to September of this year and spanned 25 episodes total.

This upcoming art exhibit will have on display a great variety of original drawings and materials. The exhibit will offer fans a dramatic look back on the story while hinting to the secrets of the series’ appeal. The exhibit will be diverse in composition and will also include sales of merchandise. It seems like it will be an event fans won’t want to miss.

The exhibit will be held in two parts. The first part will run from Dec. 6, 2014 to Jan. 12, 2015. The second part will run from Jan. 17 to March 1, 2015. For each exhibit, a different designed ticket will be introduced. The admission fee is 1,000 yen for general tickets, 700 yen for middle school students, and 300 yen for elementary school students. Elementary school students get in free on weekends and holidays. For details on the exhibit, you can check Niigata Manga Animation Museum’s official homepage.
