On Aug. 1 at the event “Digimon Adventure 15th Anniversary Event” held at Odaiba Cinema Mediage, new information was announced regarding the Digimon Adventure 15th Anniversary Project which is taking place to celebrate the 15th anniversary since the TV anime Digimon Adventure began airing in 1999.
The highlight of the new news is the announcement of a new sequel anime to Digimon Adventure. To date, the series has told the story of main character Taichi Kamiya and his friends, the DigiDestined, with them appearing as elementary school students in the first series and middle school students in the second series. Now, these “kids” will be depicted as high school students in the new sequel anime. The anime is slated for a spring 2015 release.
The release of “Digimon the Movie Blu-ray Box 1999-2006” was also announced. This wonderful box set includes all eight movies shown from 1999-2006 during the Toei Anime Fair. Included as bonuses will be the soundtrack CD Digimon Adventure: Our War Game and a bonus Blu-ray disc featuring 3D videos of Digimon Adventure Grand Prix and Digimon Savers: Digital World Kiki Ippatsu!. It will release on Jan. 9, 2015.
Also announced to be releasing is the “Digimon Adventure 15th Anniversary Blu-ray Box.” This marks the first time that all 54 episodes of the TV series are getting digitally remastered on Blu-ray. The first release limited edition will include as bonuses a new special drama CD and a box illustrated with exclusive art, as well as standard bonus items that include two specially illustrated DigiStack packs, a special booklet, and more. The release date is scheduled for March 3, 2015.
