The Blu-ray and DVD for the anime Kyousougiga Vol. 0 was released by Toei Video on Dec. 6. This is the first Blu-ray and DVD release for Kyousougiga, which began airing on TV in October. As Vol. 0, this release doesn’t include episodes from the TV series, but rather episodes that were released online before the TV series in 2011 and 2012. Fans will be able to fully enjoy seeing the origin of Kyousougiga.

Work on Kyousougiga began in 2011 as the first collaboration between Banpresto and Toei Animation. The work is a fantasy story set in a mirror version of Kyoto that includes extravagant characters and wild action. Directing the anime is the newcomer Rie Matsumoto who debuted at 25 as the director of HeartCatch PreCure the Movie - Fashion Show in the Flower Capital...Really?! The series began by first being released online. In 2011, a 5-minute promotional video and 25-minute pilot were released. In 2012, the first five episodes of the anime were released. The series’ popularity increased with each new release, and over 1 million people watched the online episodes.

An Episode 0 that takes place before Episode 1 of the TV series has also been released, but this is a condensed version of the five online episodes which have never been aired on TV. The Kyousougiga Vol. 0 Blu-ray and DVD is packed with the charm of the online episodes that leaves nothing out. Also included as bonuses are a drama CD, audio commentary, and more. These are sure to become tools for fans to deepen their understanding of the work.

Drama CDs will be included in all of the first pressing editions of the series’ forthcoming Blu-ray and DVD releases. Vol. 0 focuses on Koto’s familiars, A and Un, and gives fans a look at a side to their characters that hasn’t been shown yet.

The audio commentary features inside stories you can’t hear anywhere else by Rie Kugimiya (Koto), Kenichi Suzumura (Myōe), and Hiromi Seki (show producer). The episode of director Matsumoto giving each of the cast members an image color during their first recording, details on the settings and scenery, the cast’s first impressions of the anime - fans won’t want to miss these stories related to the TV series.
