Your Lie in April is a classical music anime broadcasting since October 2014 that is gaining popularity as a stand-out work. On Jan. 27, the spin-off concert “Your Lie in April Classical Concert” was held in the concert hall of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space. The hall was alive with an earnest performance by professional classical musicians. Guest performers including members of the staff, cast, and artists brought huge excitement to the concert as well.

At the “Your Lie in April Classical Concert” were pianist Tomoki Sakata, a model artist in charge of the series’ musical performances, and violinist Yuna Shinohara. Violinist Naoto was also welcomed to the stage and various classical pieces used in pivotal scenes in the anime were performed.

During Naoto’s segment of the concert, Nanae of rock band 7!! (Seven Oops), which created the ending theme to Season 2 titled “Orange,” performed as a guest. A one-night-only classical version was sung along with piano accompaniment that matched with the tonal quality of the violins.

Director Kyohei Ishiguro and Risa Taneda, voice of Kaori Miyazono, took the stage for the talk segment. Sakata and Shinohara were also among the group, and they took turns talking about stories fans don’t normally get to hear regarding the music recording, anime production, their readiness as musicians, and more.

The concert was enjoyable for classical music fans and anime fans alike, and ended as a resounding success.

From here on, the concert will tour cities all over Japan. Beginning in Shiga on March 1, the concert will come to Niigata, Ibaraki, Osaka, Tochigi, and Gunma. Also, the second classical concert album Your Lie in April: Twinkle Little Star will be released on March 25. Details on what will be included and more will be announced on the official site in the coming days.
