The newest stage play for Yowamushi Pedal will be performed from October to November. Tickets to this popular series of stage plays usually sell out the day after they go on sale.
The plays are based on a popular manga of the same name by Wataru Watanabe that is currently serializing in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion. Thirty five volumes of this bestseller have been published so far, with sales breaking through 10 million copies. The second season of the TV anime, Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road, will broadcast in October and it will show an unprecedented climax in the series.
The fourth stage play for the series was performed earlier this year in March. This new stage play takes place before the third day of the interhigh competition and focuses on Hakone Academy’s Yasutomo Arakita and other rivals. The story is from a spin-off manga created by author Watanabe himself called Spare Bike. This story was included in the first release limited edition of Volumes 1-4 of the Blu-ray and DVD of the anime Yowamushi Pedal. Now, this story is being developed for the stage. He may be a cynic, but a point to look forward to is what kind of stage play will be created for Arakita, who overflows with love for his team.
How actor Shatner Nishida will perform while miming that he’s riding a bike is picking up attention even from the world of theater. Moreover, it seems audiences will be drawn into this stage play by the enthusiastic performances of the cast.
An event limited to those who purchased the Interhigh Chapter: The Second Order DVD will also be held on Aug. 31. Members of the cast, beginning with Ryouta Murai who plays main character Sakamichi Onoda, will perform. An interesting point will be what kind of conversation will unfold on stage. The pleasant advance of this new Yowamushi Pedal stage play will continue to progress from here on.
