An event will be held for the series Squid Girl, the TV anime to which was broadcast from 2010-11. “First Meeting! ‘Squid Girl x Kanemoto Hisako’ Talk & Live Show!” will be held in the city on Nov. 1.
Likely to be the highlight of the event is a life-size Squid Girl who will appear on stage thanks to the latest technology. This will be new type of event at which attendees will be able to enjoy seeing Squid Girl and her voice actress, Hisako Kanemoto, on stage at the same time.
A life-size Squid Girl will appear on stage as a 3D hologram using the aerial projection technology called “polid screens.” This unique setup will allow voice actress Kanemoto to actually meet Squid Girl on stage. How will this unprecedented event develop from here onward? Its content will likely grab the attention of fans.
Those who purchase on Pony Canyon’s anime shopping site Canime.jp the Squid Girl Blu-ray box set to release on Sept. 17 will be entered into a drawing in which the winners will be able to attend the event. Attendance will cost 500 yen (tax included).
In addition to all 12 episodes, the Blu-ray box set to Season 1 of Squid Girl will include the OVA Original Animation 2012 Summer which was bundled with the 12th volume of the manga. In total, the box set will have a staggering 312 minutes of bonus video content. Bonuses include a full-color booklet, a pin badge illustrated for the occasion by original author Masahiro Anbe, a ruler in the shape of a tentacle, a clear keychain, and more. The price of the Blu-ray box set is 23,000 yen (tax excluded).
A Blu-ray box set for the second season of Squid Girl will also release on Dec. 17. Moreover, a new OVA will be included in the limited edition of Volume 17 of the manga on sale Sept. 8.
