On Aug. 3, a large-scale project was announced by Sunrise and King Records at the finale of Nana Mizuki’s tour at Yokohama Stadium.
The large-scale project was announced to be the production of an original collaborative anime between Sunrise, which has created many popular works including Love Live! and the Mobile Suit Gundam series, and two animation production departments at King Records: Starchild, which has been responsible for Neon Genesis Evangelion and other works, and the “Third Creative Headquarters,” which has worked on Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. The title of the anime is CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon. It will begin its TV broadcast this October.
On the already launched official site of the anime, the main staff and a portion of the cast are listed. Directing is Yoshiharu Ashino of the feature-length anime First Squad, and Mitsuo Fukuda who worked on Gundam Seed and other series is listed as creative producer.
The cast includes a full lineup of wonderful voice stars from King Records including Nana Mizuki, Eri Kitamura, Yukari Tamura, Kaori Ishihara, Yui Ogura, Sumire Uesaka, Mamoru Miyano, Yui Horie, and others. Also, Mizuki is in charge of the opening theme and Kitamura is in charge of the ending theme.
Also on the official site is an introduction to the story, concept art, and the first PV. Though it’s still very early on, those interested can check to see what kind of anime it will be.
There is also good news for those interested by its premise. At the same time the above-mentioned information on the anime was released, an advance serialization began on Kadokawa’s webcomic service, ComicWalker. Also announced is that an advance screening attended by the voice cast will be held.
Additional cast members will continue to be revealed from here on, and it seems like all eyes will be on this large-scale project until its broadcast this October.
