The TV broadcast schedule of the anime Kantai Collection (KanColle) has been determined. On Aug. 3, it was announced that the broadcast of the TV anime Kan Colle will begin in January 2015. In sync with this, a key visual showing Fubuki, Akagi, Kaga, and other cute kanmusu (fleet girls) has been released. Also, the official site opened on the evening of Aug. 4, and on it an advance PV has been released. Things are starting to pick up for the broadcast early next year.
Kantai Collection started as a browser game managed by DMM.com that gathered tremendous support for its idea of having cute, anthropomorphized girls represent vessels of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The characters have jumped out of the game and been developed into manga, novels, goods, and more. The TV anime is but one of these developments and is a large-scale project fans have been waiting a long time for. It has picked up huge interest since production was announced in fall 2013.
The staff gathered for the anime is another highlight. Directing is Keizo Kusakawa of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's and the series composer is Jukki Hanada of Love Live! and Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. Producing the anime is Diomedéa whose past works include Squid Girl and Riddle Story of Devil. Another point is that Orange, a company valued for its CG work, has joined the series as well. Other staff includes Takeshi Yasuda as planner, Kensuke Tanaka as original story planner and conceptor, and Shinichiro Inoue as chief production director. Also, as stated in a previous report, the voice cast includes Sumire Uesaka as Fubuki, Saki Fujita as Akagi, and Yuka Iguchi as Kaga. It seems the anime will focus on these three characters.
