Tow Ubukata Joins Staff of Psycho-Pass 2 as Series Composer, Gen Urobuchi Continues as Story Planner and Scenario Director

Psycho-Pass 2, the sequel to Psycho-Pass which was televised for half a year in 2012, will begin broadcasting in October of this year. It has been announced that popular creator Tow Ubukata has joined the staff as the series composer. Continuing to participate on the series is Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus) who was the story planner and writer last season and is the story planner and scenario director this season. Also in the lineup of talented creators are chief director Katsuyuki Motohiro and director Naoyoshi Shiotani.

Psycho-Pass is a talked-about 2012 anime by director Katsuyuki Motohiro who churns out big hits like Bayside Shakedown. It depicts the activities of a police force in the near future in a world in which potential criminals can be caught before they’ve committed a crime. The stout story has gathered acclaim. In July, Psycho-Pass: Re-Edited Edition will begin airing and the all-new work, Psycho-Pass 2, will begin airing in October. A theatrical movie will also be released after this.

Tow Ubukata is a famous author known for the historical novel Tenchi Meisatsu and the Nihon SF Tiasho Award-winning work Mardock Scramble. He is also largely connected with anime, having worked on Fafner in the Azure and Chevalier. Currently, he is working as series composer and writer on the four-part series Ghost in the Shell: Arise. He is well known among anime fans as well. It can be said that Tow Ubukata’s participation in Psycho-Pass 2 is a happy surprise for fans. On July 10, the day of the first broadcast of Psycho-Pass: Re-Edited Edition, an event will be held on Nico Nico Live titled “Psycho-Pass Project Start Commemoration Live Staff Discussion.” Tow Ubukata will also be participating. Filling the rest of the seats will be chief director Katsuyuki Motohiro, director Naoyoshi Shiotani, Gen Urobuchi, and chief producer Koji Yamamoto. It’s expected that they will talk about their thoughts on the series.
