Over 20 Artists Including Yasuyuki Okamura and Yōko Kanno to Participate in TV Anime Space Dandy

The musical artists participating in the TV anime Space Dandy, set to begin airing in January, have been announced.

The sci-fi space comedy has been making headlines for its wacky premise as well as for Yasuyuki Okamura being appointed to create the theme song. Other artists taking part include Makura Izumi, Tarō Umebayashi, Hiroshi Kawanabe (Tokyo No. 1 Soul Set), Yōko Kanno, KenKen, Kensuke Ushio (Agraph, Lama), Noriyoshi Sasanuma (Sly Mongoose), Junk Fujiyama, Zen-La-Rock, Tucker, Taku Takahashi (M-Flo, Block.fm), Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro, Dokaka, Hiroyuki Nanba, Tomonori Hayashibe, Mito (Clammbon), Shūtoku Mukai, Fujimaru Yoshino (Shogun), Latin Quarters, and LuvRaw&BTB.

In related news, Okamura’s single Viva Namida, which includes the theme song to Space Dandy, is currently on sale and selling well. Also, a 2-minute version of the music video “Yasuyuki Okamura Meet Space Dandy” in which chief director Shinichirō Watanabe and the staff of Space Dandy transform Okamura into Space Dandy is now viewable on YouTube. Those who are interested should give it a watch.
