Fantasia Bunko Revives 25th Anniversary Slayers and Sorcerous Stabber Orphen Collaboration Novel!

Fantasia Bunko, a label known for publishing many light novels taking place in fantasy worlds is republishing the famous Slayers vs. Orphen and Dragon’s Will on Sept. 20 as part of their 25th anniversary project.

Slayers vs. Orphen is a collaboration novel between Hajime Kanzaka’s Slayers and Yoshinobu Akita’s Sorcerous Stabber Orphen that was published in Fantasia Battle Royal, a special edition of Dragon Magazine, in 2001. Although a limited edition was released in 2005, it was sold out in shop after shop due to its tremendous popularity. For being hard to acquire, it was called a “phantom book.” Now, they revived this crossover of two famous works for the turning point of Fantasia Bunko’s 25th anniversary.

Dragon’s Will is the debut work of Ichiro Sakaki, the author of Hitsugi no Chaika, an anime adaptation to which is currently in the works, and Outbreak Company, and anime adaptation to which will begin broadcasting next month.

The reissue this time is a “full version” that also contains previously unpublished phantom short novels. Fans will be able to see the origins of Sakaki, who has been running on the frontline of the light novel world ever since.

That’s not all. A brand new collaboration novel by Hajime Kanzaka and Yoshinobu Akita has been decided on. The legendary collaboration seen in Slayers vs. Orphen is back in a new project after 13 years!
