An Otaku Culture Missionary in the Other World! "Outbreak Company" to Air in October

The annual large-scale summer anime event "TBS Anime Festival 2013" took place at the Big Hall in the Tokyo Bunkyo Civic Center on Aug. 10. Along with a collection of several TBS-related anime and a stellar guest list, information regarding upcoming works were announced at the event. It was announced that the light novel Outbreak Company, written by Ichiro Sakaki and illustrated by Yūgen, will be adapted into an anime series titled Outbreak Company: Moeru Shinryakusha. The series will begin airing in October through TBS, MBS, CBC, and BS-TBS.

The original novel series was published by Kodansha, and the first six volumes were well-received. The protagonist, Shinichi, an avid otaku, falls through a hole in the woods surrounding Mt. Fuji into a fantasy world known as the Holy Eldant Empire. He is then tasked by the Japanese government with the mission of "spreading otaku culture" throughout the Empire. This is definitely no ordinary fantasy. Will moe change the world, or destroy it?

The cast and artists were also announced at the event. The protagonist, Shinichi Kano, will be voiced by Natsuki Hanae. The half-human, half-elf maid Myusel Foalan will be voiced by Suzuko Mimori, while the emperor Petrarca Ann Eldant III will be voiced by Mai Fuchigami. Minori Koganuma, a Defense Force member who is also a fujoshi, will be portrayed by Maaya Uchida, while voice actress Sumire Uesaka assumes the roles of the painter Elbia Hanaiman.

Mimori and Fuchigami are also acting as musical artists. Mimori will sing the opening titled "Univerpage," while Fuchigami will sing the ending theme "My Treasure Box" as the emperor. We are looking forward to this as well!
